Alabama is receiving a $1.7 million bonus from the federal government for having one of the best-run food stamp programs in the country, which should benefit Madison County

It’s part of $18 million in bonuses the USDA is giving states for efficient administration of the federal program.

Springfield, Ill. – Illinois has gotten a $3.4 million bonus for running one of the nation’s most efficient food stamp programs.
“This is the fourth year in a row that we have received a high performance bonus,” said Gov. Dave Heineman during a news conference Friday. He praised “all the Health and Humans Services employees for a job well done. Their services are deeply appreciated.”
